Field Trip to First Iraqi Bank, Erbil
On May 18th, 2023, the Finance & Banking Department, Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Economics at Tishk International University organized a field trip to the First Iraqi Bank in Erbil for undergraduate students. The students were accompanied by Ms. Thikra, a Research Assistant in the Finance & Banking Department.
The primary objective of this initiative was to bridge the gap between theory and practice, equipping students with practical knowledge and skills in the field of finance. The field trip provided a unique opportunity for students to observe the inner workings of financial institutions, gaining insights into banking operations, customer services, and various financial products.
The day began with an orientation session conducted by Mr. Idrees Salih, the Commercial Manager, and Sarab Attar, the Marketing Assistant, at the main branch of the First Iraqi Bank. They shared their expertise on topics such as personal finance, investment strategies, marketing, and risk management. The students actively participated in discussions, asking questions and engaging in meaningful conversations. Mr. Idrees Salih shared his experiences and offered career advice, inspiring the students to pursue their aspirations in the finance and banking sectors.
Throughout the trip, the students had the chance to learn about the functions and roles of a bank, witnessing firsthand the intricacies of day-to-day operations. They observed teller transactions, gained an understanding of loan processing, and learned about investment strategies. This practical knowledge will be invaluable to them in their future financial endeavours.
The students expressed the value of the field trip in enhancing their understanding of banking operations and preparing them for future careers in finance. The success of this initiative has sparked discussions for further collaborations between Tishk International University and the First Iraqi Bank. The aim is to provide more practical learning experiences and strengthen the Finance & Banking curriculum with market-oriented courses. The bank field trip has undoubtedly left a lasting impact on their educational journey, equipping them with the confidence to navigate the complexities of the financial world.
