9th Annual Clean & Love Kurdistan Campaign

June 25th, 2025|

On May 31st and June 1st, 2025, the Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Economics at Tishk International University proudly organized the 9th Annual Clean & Love Kurdistan Campaign, continuing its long-standing commitment to promoting environmental awareness and civic responsibility among students and the local community.

This year’s campaign was made possible through the valued support and collaboration of our generous sponsors:
Alen Factory CompanyBZ Group, and the Ministry of Municipality.

The event brought together more than 100 students, faculty members, and community volunteers, who joined hands to contribute towards a cleaner and greener Kurdistan.

Participants actively engaged in a community cleanup drive, collecting a substantial amount of waste from the area near Erbil’s Martyrs’ Monument. Their dedication and teamwork were clearly visible, as dozens of bags of litter—including plastics, glass, and other waste materials—were removed, significantly improving the appearance of these public spaces.

In addition, the campaign featured a tree planting activity aimed at increasing green spaces and contributing to the long-term health of the environment. Students and faculty planted more than 100 young trees, sponsored by Alen Factory Company, at Laya School in Kawergosk, fostering a stronger connection with nature and raising awareness of the importance of environmental stewardship.

Beyond physical activities, the campaign served as a platform to inspire lasting behavioral change. By witnessing firsthand, the impact of littering and actively participating in its cleanup, students developed a deeper sense of environmental responsibility.

An appreciation ceremony was held at the conclusion of the campaign to recognize the efforts of all participants. Certificates of participation were distributed, reinforcing the university’s gratitude for their contributions and encouraging continued engagement in future sustainability initiatives.

Acknowledgments

The Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Economics extends its heartfelt thanks to:

  • Alen Factory Company
  • BZ Group
  • Ministry of Municipality

for their invaluable support in making this year’s campaign a resounding success. Their collaboration helped create a meaningful experience for all involved and reinforced the power of partnership in achieving community goals.

Together, we can build a brighter, cleaner, and more sustainable Kurdistan.

IDCB Students Showcase 21 Inspiring Service Projects

June 24th, 2025|

At Tishk International University, we believe that true education goes beyond academic success. We are committed to nurturing personal growth, social responsibility, and strong moral character. Within this vision, the Interpersonal Dynamics and Character Building (IDCB) course—taught under the guidance of Dr. Hamdi Serin—has become a platform for students to turn values into action.

Throughout the semester, students were encouraged to develop and lead their own group projects. These projects were designed not only to benefit the community but also to help students discover their strengths, step into leadership roles, and collaborate meaningfully with their peers. The experience allowed them to grow in critical areas such as communication, time management, teamwork, and conflict resolution.

The initiatives covered a wide range of themes, from community service and environmental campaigns to solidarity-driven campus activities and projects that emphasized moral and spiritual development. Whether it was supporting schools through donations, offering food and clothing to families in need, planting trees, or organizing visits to orphanages—each act carried a message of care and commitment.

To celebrate their efforts, a vibrant poster presentation event was held at the Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Economics, where 21 student-led projects were proudly showcased. Faculty, students, and guests came together to recognize and applaud these creative and heartfelt initiatives. The atmosphere was filled with pride, encouragement, and inspiration.

This event was more than a course conclusion—it was a reflection of our mission of value-based education. Our students demonstrated that with the right guidance and motivation, they are capable of becoming responsible, compassionate individuals who give back to their community and lead with purpose.

We are proud of every team and every project—and here are some of the highlights from these meaningful and inspiring efforts.

Internal Seminar “De-dollarization: Is the US dollar losing its dominance? A Shift in Global Financial Power?”

June 11th, 2025|

The Department of Business and Management, Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Economics, Tishk International University, Erbil, recently hosted a compelling seminar titled “De-dollarization: Is the US dollar losing its dominance? A Shift in Global Financial Power?” The insightful session was led by Dr. Waqar Ahmad, a distinguished presenter from the same department.
The seminar delved into the intriguing and increasingly relevant topic of de-dollarization, exploring the profound question of whether the US dollar is indeed losing its long-held position of dominance in the global financial landscape. For decades, the dollar has served as the world’s primary reserve currency, the standard for international trade, and a haven during times of economic uncertainty. However, recent geopolitical shifts, coupled with strategic economic diversification efforts by various nations, are prompting a re-evaluation of this entrenched status quo.
Dr. Waqar Ahmad provided a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted drivers behind the de-dollarization trend. These include the weaponization of the dollar through sanctions, which has prompted countries to seek alternatives; the rise of China’s economic power and its push for the internationalization of the Yuan; and advancements in digital currencies that could offer new avenues for cross-border transactions outside traditional dollar-denominated systems. The session examined how major economies and international blocs are increasingly engaging in bilateral trade using local currencies, and the implications of such actions for the dollar’s future role.
Furthermore, the seminar critically assessed the potential ramifications of a genuine shift in global financial power. Discussions covered what a decline in dollar dominance could mean for the United States’ economic leverage and foreign policy, and how it might reshape international trade dynamics, capital flows, and the stability of the global financial system. The presentation highlighted the potential emergence of a more multipolar currency system, where other currencies or even new digital assets play a more significant role. This valuable discussion aimed to provide attendees with crucial insights into the ongoing transformation of the global financial architecture and its broader geopolitical consequences.
