IRD Department Delegation Participates in Symposium on Kurdistan Region

On January 11th 2023, a delegation from the International Relations and Diplomacy Department, Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Economics at Tishk International University, comprising the Head of Department, Dr. Mohammad Salih Mustafa and Mr. Dana Sajadi, participated in a symposium entitled: Kurdistan Region in the midst of Changes: Opportunities and Challenges. The symposium, organized by the Task Centre in collaboration with the Lebanese French University, brought the major Kurdish political parties to a rare national debate on the development, security, stability and future of the Kurdistan Region.

The Rector of the Lebanese French University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Amin Salih Mohammed and Prof. Dr. Othman Ali, the Head of the Task Center, opened the symposium, which had Dr. Hemin Hawrami, Deputy Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament and a member of the Political Bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Saadi Ahmad Pira, member of the Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), and Dr. Khalil Ibrahim, Head of the Political Council of the Kurdistan Islamic Union as speakers.

The symposium, which had ministers, MPs and prominent academicians in attendance, provided a unique platform for the participants to discuss the challenges confronting the Kurdistan Region caused by local, regional and international developments and how to address them through the utilization of available opportunities, and adoption of other innovative strategies.
