Internal Seminar on: Ethical use of Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education

 

Seminar titled “Ethical use of Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education” was organized by the Department of Accounting, Banking and Finance on 16th of August 2026 the resource person being Dr. Ghousia Khatoon, the Professor of the Department. There are growing concerns relating to unethical use of AI in higher education across the planet. This seminar was delivered to create awareness amongst the faculty members with respect to Ethical use of AI in Higher Education. The seminar started with a quote “Technology is a useful servant but a dangerous master” wherein the resource person stressed on the use of AI as a learning tool not a substitute to human intelligence. The presenter also highlighted critical statistics which highlight the robust need for ethical use of AI in higher education.

The enthusiastic participants were introduced to the concept of AI, why ethical use of AI matters in higher education, real world examples of Unethical Use of AI in higher Education and the action plan to curb the unethical use of AI in higher education. The primary focus was on the ethical challenges relating to use of AI in higher education. Issues such as AI generated Assignments, AI generated research papers, AI generated PhD thesis, Using AI in online exams, AI generated Essays, Deepfake Student Voice Recordings, AI generated Recommendation letters and Deep Fake Lectures were discussed.

The presenter stressed on signing the academic integrity pledge by the students at the beginning of the semester. Considering AI as a learning tool not a replacement for human intelligence was also another highlight of the seminar. Participants were also advised to revisit the assessments to reduce the unethical use of AI to a greater extent. The presenter encouraged participants to add value to the discussion.
