Department of Accounting, Banking and Finance, Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Economics, Tishk International University organized an Industrial Field Trip to Das Food Industries (Shemamik Erbil), on Tuesday 7th May 2024. It is one of the largest food production companies in Iraq. Their products include Wheat Flour, Bulgur, Biscuits, Pasta and animal feed. The Participating students include the 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades respectively.
As soon as we reached the production plant of Das Food Industries, Mr. Resit Kaya, the Accounting Manager, welcomed the entire team of students and staff. The students were exposed to the stages in the process of the manufacture, by-products, the main products, the cleaning of product section, and the packaging section. The Industry has 20 storages and each storage has a capacity of 5000 tons.
After the visit to the production plant, there was a presentation by Mr. Resit Kaya, the Accounting Manager and Sarmad Rashed, the General Manager in the Administration Section. The presentation covered cost of material, cost of labor and overheads. They also exposed the students on how the cost accounting records are maintained and how the prices of the products are fixed.
After the presentation, Das Food Industry hosted lunch for all the students and staff and presented each student with a gift pack. The students thoroughly enjoyed the practicalities and hospitality of the company. It was a great experience visiting Das Food Industries.
At the end, Dr. Ghousia Khatoon, Head of Accounting, Banking and Finance Department presented the Industry Experts with a token of Appreciation and she extended her gratitude to Mr. Resit Kaya and his team for the accommodation and hospitality.
