On May 14, 2025, the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy at Tishk International University successfully hosted a national workshop titled “Beyond Distortion and Erasure: Understanding the History and Origins of the Kurds.” The event brought together academics, students, scholars, policymakers, and media practitioners for a critical examination of Kurdish history, its misrepresentation, and its significance in contemporary discourse.
The workshop began with opening remarks by Dr. Mohammad Salih Mustafa, Head of the International Relations and Diplomacy Department, who welcomed participants and introduced the President of Tishk International University, Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu Orabi. In his welcome address, Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu Orabi praised the timely focus of the workshop, emphasizing the university’s commitment to fostering informed discussions on vital historical and cultural issues.
