On December 18th, 2019 (the 40th anniversary of the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women – CEDAW), the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy of TIU organised an event in collaboration with Y-peer Network and Messalla Organisation.
The first part of the event consisted of a number of presentations in relation to CEDAW and women’s rights issues. This was then followed by an educational session for the students.
The aim of the workshop, in which a number of the university’s lecturers and staff attended, in addition to students, was to improve the students’ knowledge about CEDAW, gender equality and gender-based violence. Topics discussed and present ranged from what is CEDAW, and what is its significance, to what can be done to eliminate gender-based discrimination. This workshop was part of several other extracurricular activities that the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy has been involved in recently for the benefit of its students.
