My Journey of Fratelli Tutti
Hey, I am Niga, a 4th-grade student of International Relations and Diplomacy. In October 2021, I travelled to the capital city of Italy, Rome, for an opening meeting of a program called Fratelli Tutti Political School (FTPS), which Tishk International University recommended.
Fratelli Tutti brings together 50 young people from 35 different regions, cultures, and spiritual traditions, united in their vocation to lead and co-create a renewed outlook willing to transform the way we know politics, inspired by the principles of the Third Encyclical of Pope Francis.
During my days in Italy, we did great activities with fruitful outcomes because each activity was designed to get to know each other from a heart kind of perspective. During one of the days Pope Francis visited us, he stressed the importance of the ability to meet others, but an honest and vulnerable encounter. One of the keynotes of the Pope was, necessary to connect by being vulnerable.
The Fratelli Tutti experience includes unparalleled learning opportunities, such as five trips to different countries during the one-year duration of the program. It is designed to prepare the next generation of leaders with a holistic view and the significance of being a leader where the humane side plays a key role.
My second trip went to Africa, a week full of activities. Meeting people in Liberia was extremely useful. No words can describe the whole spectrum of emotions, feelings, and lessons this experience brought me. One of the greatest factors of this experience was visiting different places and listening to their stories and their struggles. I am happy to be initiating a process of aid, reimagining the world, and practicing politics differently to help those in need.
Learning about education, poverty, economic policy, and government administration on paper is one thing; experiencing it is another. I want to thank Tishk International University, especially my Department and Fratelli Tutti, for creating such a wonderful opportunity. I wish students at Tishk International University would take the opportunity as I did and engage to see the other side of the world.
