Successful Completion of Qualitative Research Training Course and Presentation of Certificates

The International Relations and Diplomacy Department successfully completed 24 hours of Qualitative Research Training Course, aimed at enabling researchers, especially TIU academic staff to learn the basics of qualitative research and the use of NVIVO software in qualitative data analysis. The training started on 1st September, 2022 spread across 6 weeks, with the last week, held on 3rd November, 2022. The 1st week had Asst. Prof. Dr. Basiru Musa as the trainer who delivered: Research: Meaning & Raison d'être, Research Paradigms: Positivism, Post-Positivism, Social Constructivism, Pragmatism and Critical Theory, and Typology of Research and Differences between Qualitative and Quantitative Research. The 2nd and 3rd weeks had Prof. Dr. Ahmet Arabaci as the trainer who delivered: Research Design: How to Set Research Questions, Objectives, Propositions or Hypotheses, Literature Review: Meaning, Importance, Types and Sources, How to Organize Literature Review in an Article, Project or Scientific Manuscript, Data Collection Methods for Qualitative Research: Document Analysis, Interview, Observation, Focus Group Discussion, Discourse Analysis, etc., and Qualitative Data Analysis (QDA): A case of Thematic Analysis, Validity & Reliability in Qualitative Data.
Dr. Mohammad Salih Mustafa, the Head of IRD Department and initiator of the training, trained the participants during the 4th week, where he delivered: Research Ethics: Meaning and Importance, Ethical Issues in Research, and Classification and Library. 5th and 6th weeks had the British researcher, Mrs. Caroline McGarr who delivered the NVIVO practical sessions.
 
The Dean of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Economics, Mr. Karwan Sherwani, who was also one of the participants congratulated the IRD Department, especially the HOD, on Organizing the training and its successful completion. Certificates of Appreciation were presented to the four (4) distinguished trainers by the Dean, while Certificates of Training were presented to the participants by Dr. Mohammad Salih Mustafa, the Head, IRD Department.
