IRD Department HOD Participates in Academic Debate at Soran University

On February 27th, 2023, the Head of International Relations and Diplomacy Department, Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Economics at Tishk International University, Dr. Mohammad Salih Mustafa, alongside three other speakers, Prof. Dr. Othman Ali, Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman Karim and Dr. Parwez Rahim participated in an Academic Debate: ‘Iran’s Protests: Motivations and Consequences,’ organized by the Politics and International Relations Department, Faculty of Law, Political Science and Management, Soran University.

The academic debate centred on both the remote and immediate causes of the protests in Iran, in which different ethnic groups in Iran participated and which drew the attention of the international community. The four (4) speakers, including the IRD HOD, Dr. Mohammad Salih Mustafa, analyzed the protests through different theoretical perspectives in order to gain a better understanding of their actual causes and effects, thus paving the way for appropriate and actionable policy recommendations in order to prevent their reoccurrence. The speakers also analyzed the position of the Kurds in Iran and the need to ensure the protection and promotion of their fundamental human rights.

A certificate of appreciation was issued to Dr. Mohammad Salih Mustafa for his valuable contributions to the debate by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Political Science and Management, Soran University, Dr. Hemdad F. Ahmad.
