Erbil, May 25–27, 2026 — The Faculty of Administrative and Economic Sciences at Tishk International University (TIU) in Erbil successfully organized the 8th International Conference on Accounting, Business, Economics and Politics (ICABEP 2026), held from May 25 to 27, 2026, at the Institute of Management, University of Szczecin, Poland. The conference brought together a distinguished international community of scholars, researchers, and practitioners to engage in meaningful dialogue on some of today’s most pressing academic and policy challenges.
An International Platform for Knowledge Exchange
ICABEP 2026 was organized by the Faculty of Administrative and Economic Sciences, Tishk International University in Erbil, in cooperation with 12 partner universities from around the world: the University of Szczecin (Poland), Salahaddin University (Iraq), University of Malta (Malta), Western University in Timișoara (Romania), Sofia University — St. Kliment Ohridski (Bulgaria), Yarmouk University (Jordan), University of Gdańsk (Poland), Haxhi Zeka University (Kosovo), Hilla University (Iraq), Hassan II University of Casablanca (Morocco), University of Kobani (Syria), and the University of Tetovo (North Macedonia). The conference’s enduring mission is to bring together scientists, academic lecturers, and practitioners to exchange knowledge, experiences, and research results across its core disciplines.
TIU’s Delegation at ICABEP 2026
Tishk International University was represented at the conference by a distinguished delegation that demonstrated the university’s strong commitment to international academic engagement at both the leadership and research levels.
Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu Orabi, President of Tishk International University, delivered a formal address at the conference, reaffirming TIU’s central role as the founding organizer of ICABEP and its ongoing dedication to fostering global scholarly collaboration.
Dr. Dana Mohammed Danish Aladdin Sajadi, Head of the International Relations and Diplomacy Department, presented his research paper titled “From Liberal Hegemony to Strategic Disorder: Trump’s Foreign Policy and the Reshaping of the International System”, offering a rigorous analytical contribution to discussions on the evolving dynamics of global political order.
Dr. Abubakar Balarabe Karaye, Head of the Accounting and Banking & Finance Departments, presented his paper “The Impact of Board Gender Diversity on Global Sustainability Performance: The Moderating Role of Government Effectiveness”, contributing substantively to the academic discourse on corporate governance, gender inclusion, and institutional sustainability.
Mr. Nyaz Abdulla Abdulla, Research Assistant in the Business and Management Department, presented his paper “Entrepreneurship Development: New Business Start-ups, Challenges and Opportunities in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq”, shedding light on the entrepreneurial landscape and the prospects for economic growth in the region.
The breadth of TIU’s delegation — spanning presidential leadership, senior academics, and emerging researchers — reflects the university’s holistic and genuine investment in international academic excellence.
Conference Highlights
The three-day programme was rich in content and diverse in perspective. Day One featured high-profile keynote lectures by internationally recognized scholars, including Prof. Eleftherios Thalassinos (University of Piraeus, Greece), Prof. Tadeusz Trzaskalik (University of Economics in Katowice, Poland), and Prof. Simon Grima (University of Malta), among others. Major panel discussions addressed themes of critical global relevance, including the role of artificial intelligence in energy management and justice systems, and European security in the context of the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Day Two continued with keynote addresses by Prof. Gratiela Georgiana Noja (West University of Timișoara), Prof. Salah Koubaa (Hassan II University of Casablanca), and others, followed by scientific sessions covering sustainable economic transformation, urban mobility, geopolitical risk, and AI-driven financial management. Parallel sessions provided a platform for researchers from TIU and partner institutions to present their latest work to an engaged international audience.
