On Thursday, December 12th, the Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Economics (FASE) at Tishk International University (TIU) warmly welcomed its new first-year students with an engaging orientation program. The event provided students with essential guidance and insights to navigate their academic journey effectively and make the most of their university experience.

A Comprehensive Welcome

The program began with an inspiring message from the President of Tishk International University. Following this, Dr. Karwan Sherwani, Vice Dean of the Faculty, took the stage to introduce the various departments and their respective heads, providing valuable insights into the faculty’s goals and the opportunities available to students.

Mr. Fayeq Ali, Head of the Business and Management Department, then gave a detailed introduction to the faculty’s curriculum. He elaborated on the course structure and highlighted the university’s current accreditations and ongoing efforts to achieve additional recognitions, reinforcing the faculty’s commitment to academic excellence.

The orientation also included a session on extracurricular activities, led by Dr. Hamdi Serin, Head of Social Activities. He outlined a wide array of options designed to enrich student life, including table tennis, chess, football, picnics, and hiking adventures. These activities are designed to foster a sense of community and encourage students to balance their academic pursuits with recreational and social engagement.

Practical Tools for Academic Success

In addition to these sessions, the research assistants conducted practical workshops to familiarize students with key academic platforms and tools. New students received tutorials on the Student Information System (SIS), Turnitin for assignment submissions, university email usage, and how to access lecture materials. These sessions were crucial in equipping students with the technical know-how needed to succeed in their studies.

The orientation program served as a comprehensive introduction to the vibrant academic and social environment at FASE. It set the tone for a promising and productive academic year, ensuring that every student feels supported and well-prepared to embark on this new chapter of their lives.
