The Impact Of COVID-19 On The Iraqi Economy

This research project delivers an exclusive comparative case study about the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on Iraqi economy. The main objective of this research is to examine the impact of COVID-19 on the economic setting, including the economic growth, small and medium-size businesses and Iraq’s fiscal and monetary policy. The research first suggests a framework for the case study to follow. Moreover, a diverse choice of methodology is produced in this regard. The research follows the deductive approach by using secondary quantitative and qualitative data from different sources. The research shows that the COVID-19 hugely have affected the economy of Iraq. Additionally, this research illustrates to what extend the Iraqi GDP decreased by the pandemic during the first half of 2020. It also shows how the COVID-19 led to closure of several small and medium-size business, which caused increasing unemployment and gender gap. The impact of COVID-19 on Iraqi fiscal and monetary during 2020 also is discussed. In conclusion, this research suggests the impact of COVID-19 on small and medium-size in long term it is not clear. Because of their importance for any economy, further study in this area is worthwhile.
