On November 5th, 2024, the Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Economics (FASE) at Tishk International University (TIU) held a compelling seminar titled “Honesty and Transparency in Communication: The Destructive Effects of Backbiting,” featuring Dr. Kenan Kapukaya, who captivated the audience by engaging students in an insightful discussion. Dr. Kapukaya highlighted the essential role honesty plays in our lives and the profound effects that lies and backbiting can have on individuals and society, exploring these topics from both social and religious perspectives.
The seminar generated strong interest from the audience, especially students, who appreciated Dr. Kapukaya’s interactive approach. By inviting questions and encouraging participation, he fostered a lively atmosphere that made the event not only educational, but engaging. Originally scheduled for one hour, the seminar extended beyond the allotted time due to the depth of the subject matter and the audience’s enthusiasm.
Due to the overwhelming interest and Dr. Kapukaya’s desire to explore further, the faculty has arranged a second session of the seminar to take place after midterm examinations. Part 2 will allow students to delve deeper into these crucial topics, reinforcing the faculty’s commitment to fostering open, ethical communication within the academic community.
