The Iraqi Kurdistan Region, located in the north of the Iraqi federal state, has had its own government and parliament since 1991 and is responsible for running its affairs. The research focuses on the KRG’s diplomatic relations and the causes of creating these relations, as well as the challenges they face in the field of diplomatic relations. It also explains what the gains have been made in this way and how more gains can be made in the future. At present, the KRG plays an important role at the international level and has strong ties with many different countries. As a result, there are now 30 consulates and representatives in Erbil, the capital city of the Kurdistan Region. Apart from political relations in terms of trade, investment and a number of other sectors, they operate in the Kurdistan Region.
