International Workshop on Digital Transformation in Accounting

The Accounting Department, Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Economics at Tishk International University (TIU) organized an enlightening International Workshop on Digital Transformation in Accounting on 7th November 2023. The objective of the workshop is to facilitate a dynamic and comprehensive exploration of the transformative impact of digital technologies on accounting practices. The workshop was attended by members of the university across all faculties. The program commenced with the introduction of resource person Dr. Nusrathunnisa by Ms. Thikra Mohammed, and thereafter, Dr. Nusrathunnisa, Program Director of the undergraduate program at Alliance University, India extensively discussed the paradigm shift in the accounting profession. The trend encompasses the adoption of advanced software, automation, artificial intelligence, and data analytics in financial processes.

The event provides a platform for academics and practitioners and Students to engage in insightful discussions and collaboratively chart the path forward in embracing and leveraging digital innovations within the accounting domain. Through this workshop, participants were encouraged to gain an understanding of emerging technologies, especially the applications of artificial intelligence in accounting.

After the tea break, the second presenter Professor Ghousia Khatoon who is also the Head of the Accounting Department, Tishk International University presented her talk on applications of artificial intelligence in Accounting. She discussed and explained the importance of AI in enhancing the field of accounting practice such as bookkeeping, auditing, fraud detection and predictive analysis. She urged the participants especially Students to learn how AI transforms the landscape of accounting profession through efficiency, financial modelling, and fraud detection.

After the second presentation, Professor Ghousia Khatoon, along with Dr.  Hussaini Bala, Dr. Basiru Musa, Dr. Hamdi and Dr. Armayau Alhaji Sani presented certificates to the organizing committee for their valuable contributions. The workshop concluded with closing remarks by the Assistant Professor Dr. Hussaini Bala.
