The Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Economics (FASE) at Tishk International University (TIU) organized the 6th International Conference in Accounting, Business, Economics, and Politics (ICABEP 2024), in collaboration with Salahaddin University-Erbil, College of Administration and Economics, University of Szczecin, Poland, and Sofia University, St. Kliment Hridika, Sofia, Bulgaria. The conference took place from October 8–9, 2024.

ICABEP 2024 brought together over 200 professionals, academics, and industry leaders from around the world. The event’s purpose was to explore the connections between accounting, business, economics, and politics in addressing global challenges.

The conference was attended by a number of respected dignitaries and committee members, including:

The event commenced with an introductory speech by Dr. Abdullah Nabeel, followed by the National Anthem of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq. Promotional videos for Tishk International University and Salahaddin University were also shown.

Speeches were given by Assist Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi, Prof. Dr. Shareef Maulod Shareef, and Prof. Dr. Sultan T. Abu-Orabi. They welcomed and congratulated the organizers and attendees. The presidents of the University of Szczecin and Sofia University delivered their remarks via recorded video, expressing their congratulations and interest in future collaborations. A representative from the Ministry of Higher Education also thanked the organizers and highlighted the importance of universities working together to develop sustainable goals.

The opening address was delivered by Dr. Mohammad Salih, Co-Chair of ICABEP 2024. Keynote addresses on October 8, 2024, included a speech from Abdulrahman Sedeeq, Head of the Environment Board, Kurdistan Regional Government, on “Towards a Sustainable Future: Environmental Investments and Climate Resilience in the Kurdistan Region.” Prof. Dr. Md Mahmudul Alam, an Associate Professor at Universiti Utara Malaysia, presented on “Enhancing Sustainability: A Business-Academia-Policy Partnership.”

On October 9, 2024, the plenary session featured Ahmet Demir, who presented his research on “The power of Positivity vs Negativity: Dual valance asymmetry between incomes and outcomes in Organizational Behavior.” The keynote addresses on this day included presentations by hab. dr. Wojciech Drożdż and hab. dr. Andrzej Rzeczycki from the University of Szczecin, Poland, on “The Polish Journey to Electromobility” and “Hydrogen Supply Chains,” respectively.

According to the Scientific Secretary, Dr. Waqar Ahmad, 56 full manuscripts and abstracts were received, and 52 were selected for presentation. The parallel sessions took place at the Culture and Social Center of Salahaddin University-Erbil on October 8, and the online sessions were held at TIU on October 9. Participants from various countries including Canada, Syria, Iran, India, America, the United Kingdom, Greece, Poland, Malaysia, Kurdistan, and Iraq attended.

ICABEP 2024 served as a dynamic platform for dialogue among scholars and practitioners. It fostered collaborative efforts to address economic and political challenges on a global scale. The diverse perspectives shared are expected to contribute significantly to the ongoing discourse in these vital fields.
