Industrial Field Trip Report to Deloitte Erbil
On 9th February, the Students of Accounting and Banking & Finance went on an academic field trip to Deloitte Erbil. The visit, which began at 10:00 AM, aimed to provide students with practical experience and bridge the gap between their theoretical knowledge and the real-world financial technology industry.
During the visit, a series of lectures were delivered by the management and human resources team of Deloitte. The sessions were conducted by Mr. Mustafa Omar, Manager at Deloitte, and Ms. Lubna Bakeer, from the Deloitte Human Resources department. The lectures focused on key topics such as Who Deloitte is, What Deloitte does, Deloitte’s thinking, and Career opportunities. These sessions provided the students with a clear understanding of Deloitte’s professional services, organizational culture, and global career pathways.
After the lectures, the participating students were divided into groups of four. The students participated in group discussions and interactive sessions with Deloitte staff, during which they explained practical aspects of accounting, auditing, and consulting, supported by hands-on experiences and real-life examples. These interactions aimed to help the students understand how theoretical knowledge is applied in professional practice.
Following the group discussions, all students were gathered again for special lectures and an interactive question-and-answer session. This session was led by Mr. Sirwar Barwary, Director of Deloitte Erbil and an expert in Audit and Assurance, together with Muhammad Imran Farooq, Partner at Deloitte Middle East Consulting Limited, Erbil, Kurdistan Region. The session allowed the students to ask questions directly and gain deeper insights into professional expectations, audit practices, and consulting careers.
