About Department

The four-year program in International Trade and Logistics leads to the bachelor’s degree in international Trade and Logistics.

International trade is the exchange of capital, goods, and services across international borders. Countries specialize in exporting those products and services which they can produce most efficiently and import those where they are less efficient.

Today about a third of all the goods and services produced are traded internationally. International trade is a powerful driver for growth and rising living standards, especially in the developing world, whilst representing a significant part of Gross Domestic Product in most developed countries.

The international trade gains an overwhelming importance as globalization affects the whole world. The need for well-educated and qualified manpower also becomes one of the crucial issues. Effective international trade is only possible with a thorough theoretical and practical knowledge of international trade mechanisms, characteristics of international institutions and certain international parameters.

On the other hand, the program also focuses on logistics. The process of logistics involves not only internal operations (such as supply, transportation within the business, and stock management) but also the role of the middlemen and supporting companies in international trade. Being globally competitive depends on the effective management and integration of the product, material, and capital, with the services and flow of information within the business. Customer satisfaction has also become an essential component of the modern business world. The goal of logistics is to deliver the right product, at the right time, to the right place, in the right quantity, and for the right cost, in an excellent and flawless condition. This requires specialized knowledge of logistic management, as well as a staff resource of logistic managers, who are highly competent and skilled.

International developments prove that the way to increase welfare of the whole society is possible through trade. In addition to producing quality and low-priced goods, knowledge of international and national trading rules should be improved in order to trade in the best efficient way, and this will eventually lead to improvement of the welfare and wealth of the country. In this equation the most important source is the human capital. As a result, we need qualified generations who can keep up with changes and developments in international trade and logistics, who can merge their knowledge of world trade with our country’s benefit.
