On December 18th, 2019 (the 40th anniversary of the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women \u2013 CEDAW), the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy of TIU organised an event in collaboration with Y-peer Network and Messalla Organisation.<\/p>\n

The first part of the event consisted of a number of presentations in relation to CEDAW and women\u2019s rights issues. This was then followed by an educational session for the students.<\/p>\n

The aim of the workshop, in which a number of the university\u2019s lecturers and staff attended, in addition to students, was to improve the students\u2019 knowledge about CEDAW, gender equality and gender-based violence. Topics discussed and present ranged from what is CEDAW, and what is its significance, to what can be done to eliminate gender-based discrimination. This workshop was part of several other extracurricular activities that the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy has been involved in recently for the benefit of its students.<\/p>\n
