International Workshop on the Landscape of Corporate Governance<\/h4>\n

On 4th December 2022, the Department of\u00a0<\/span>Accounting<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Banking and Finance<\/span><\/a>\u00a0organised an International Workshop on the Landscape of Corporate Governance. Corporate governance is\u00a0<\/span>the arrangement of rules, processes, and laws by which companies are operated, regulated, and controlled.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

The main objective of the\u00a0<\/span><\/em>workshop is to enable the participants to have background knowledge about corporate governance, the structure of corporate governance, legal and institutional frameworks of corporate governance, and some potential areas for research in corporate governance. <\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop was enriched by the presence of the Dean\u00a0<\/span>Faculty of Administrative Science and Economics<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Mr. Karwan Sherwani<\/span>, the Head of the Department of Accounting, Banking and Finance,\u00a0<\/span>Dr. Waqar Ahmad<\/span>, the Head of the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy<\/span>, Dr. Muhammed Salih<\/span>\u00a0and many professors from the\u00a0<\/span>Faculty of Administrative Science and Economics<\/span><\/a> as well as other department and faculty members and students at the university.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Opening remarks were delivered by the Head of the Department of\u00a0<\/span>Accounting<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Banking and Finance<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Dr. Waqar Ahmad<\/span>, and the first presenter, Professor Noor Afza Amran, delivered her valuable presentation.\u00a0<\/span>Professor Noor Afza Amran<\/span><\/a>\u00a0is the Director of the Asian Research Institute for Corporate Governance at\u00a0<\/span>Utara University, Malaysia,<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and she also has vast experience in academics and practice. In her presentation, she discussed and explained the concept of corporate governance, the structure of corporate governance, the institutional framework of corporate governance, and theories of corporate governance.<\/span><\/p>\n

After a tea break, the workshop resumed with the presentation of the second speaker,<\/span>\u00a0Dr. Hussaini Bala<\/span>, who is an Assistant Professor at the Department of\u00a0<\/span>Accounting<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Banking and Finance<\/span><\/a>, TIU. His presentation focused on the potential areas of research on corporate governance. He discussed and explained the importance of corporate governance research and areas of research on corporate governance. His presentation included some review questions for the students. This was done to engage the students and make the presentation more interactive. Finally, he discussed and explained some sample frameworks for corporate governance research.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the presentation of the guest speakers, the Dean\u00a0<\/span>Faculty of Administrative Science and Economics<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Mr. Karwan Sherwani<\/span>, issued certificates to the presenters and the organising committee for their valuable contributions. <\/span>Finally, the workshop ended with a closing remark by the Head of\u00a0<\/span>Accounting<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Banking Finance Department<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Dr. Waqar Ahmad<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>
